ColdFusion Powered Proxyclick Feeds Locals (Including Microsoft Employees) And Wins Awards

Belgian software company Proxyclick positions itself as a "life improvement platform". Their primary application is ColdFusion powered Click'n Lunch and is used by employees at lots of local companies (including Microsoft Belgium) to order lunch and more. And the app just won the B2B BeCommerce Award 2009.

Seattle's Virginia Mason Powered By ColdFusion

I discovered this one while in Seattle this week. Virginia Mason Medical Center is an award-winning, private, not-for-profit organization offering a network of primary and specialty care clinics throughout the Puget Sound region and a hospital in Seattle. And their website, including the staff portal, is all powered by ColdFusion 8.

TweetTrail Powered By ColdFusion And jQuery

Paul Kukiel wrote to tell me that his TweetTrail app is in beta. TweetTrail is a Twitter client which lets you enter a search term to find the top 20 Tweeters on that topic. TweetTrail is powered by ColdFusion and jQuery.


ColdFusion 8 Powers The Center for Consumer Freedom

The Center for Consumer Freedom is a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting personal responsibility and protecting consumer choices. The organization believes that only you know what's best for you, and objects when activists try to force you to live according to their vision of society. The Center for Consumer Freedom operates a whole slew of web sites, including PETA Kills Animals, ActivistCash.com, CSPI Scam, Animal Scam, mercuryfacts.org, PhysicianScam.com, HumaneWatch, and more. And all of these sites are powered by ColdFusion 8.

ColdFusion Helps Calculate Wedding Costs

This one sent to me by Shane McMurray, founder of The Wedding Report, Inc. Cost of Wedding attempts to help couples budget and plan wedding costs. While the list of items that "are included in the average wedding cost or wedding budget" definitely raised my eyebrows, the site is simple, focused, intuitive, and was ranked #14 in The 75 Best Wedding Web Sites on Brides magazine's brides.com. And, of course, the site is fully powered by ColdFusion.

ColdFusion Powers Health And Human Services Award Winning girlshealth.gov

girlshealth.gov was created to help girls (ages 10-16) learn about health, growing up, and issues they may face. It focuses on health topics that girls are concerned about and helps motivate them to choose healthy behaviors by using positive, supportive, and non-threatening messages. The site gives girls reliable, useful information on the health issues they will face as they become young women and tips on handling relationships with family and friends, at school and at home. girlshealth.gov is a project of the U.S. Department of Health &Human Services' Office on Women's Health, and was the Health Improvement Institute's Aesculapius Award 2008 Award of Excellence. And the site is completely powered by ColdFusion.

ColdFusion Powered U.K. Government Site Wins Award

U.K. based OWL allows police to work with neighborhood watch groups, communicating directly with the public via email, phone, fax, SMS, print, and publishing to the OWL website. It features a contact management system to manage tens of thousands of contacts, and it ties into the Royal Mail database. The site is geographically aware and supports location and proximity based searches. The public can log in to manage their own data, all managed by integrated security. The entire system is built in ColdFusion. And they have announced that the application has been awarded an e-Government National Award from the British Government.

Boston University Build Facebook-Like Site In ColdFusion

Mass High Tech is running a story about how "The Boston University School of Management has launched its own private version of Facebook to encourage student networking while reducing potentially embarrassing situations" As per the story, "The system was developed by one programmer over nine weeks using Adobe Inc.'s ColdFusion". Nice!

The Flip Powered By ColdFusion And Flex

The Flip products are wonderful, small portable super-friendly video cameras (my 10 year old is becoming a budding director thanks to one he just got). The Flip website uses Flex in various places, including for designing your own Flip Mino. And then when you checkout, the online store is powered by ColdFusion 8.

Government Technology is running a story about how the city of Tigard, OR, recently completed a 24-month enterprise GIS implementation resulting in a centralized corporate geodatabase environment used by the police department, public works, community development, and more. Part of the solution is Crime Spotter, created by GeoNorth, and powered by ESRI GIS software and ColdFusion.

As a follow-up to last week's story on how NaturalInsight uses ColdFusion 8, TechRepublic is running a new story entitled How FoodSHIELD's developers put ColdFusion 8 to good use. In it, Brian Kotek explains what FoodSHIELD does, and how they use ColdFusion, Savvy CMS, Adobe Connect, and more to power their important work. Zogby International Powered By ColdFusion

Zogby International is a polling and opinion tracking company, and Zogby data is used by news organizations, businesses, political campaigns and more. And in this exciting (and contentious) political season, John Zogby has become something of a fixture on the news circuit. The Zogby website (which could use a UI overhaul) features news, trends, an electoral map, online polling, and more. And the site is all powered by ColdFusion (it appears to be ColdFusion 5). In fact, it looks like Zogby has been using ColdFusion for a very long time, because I found some pages with a .dbm extension!

FoodSHIELD is a web-based platform that creates community, increases collaboration, and facilitates communication among thousands of public and private entities involved in protecting and defending the United States food supply. From laboratories and regulatory agencies at local, county, state, and federal offices, to academia and industry, FoodSHIELD is a central portal where people in all 50 states work collectively to safeguard the national food supply through secure, integrated resources. FoodSHIELD is sponsored by the National Center for Food Protection and Defense (NCFPD), a Department of Homeland Security National Center of Excellence, as well as by the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) and by grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. LendingTree Selects ColdFusion Based Loan Pricing Technology

LendingTree is the number one online lending exchange, and LendingTree has just announced that they have selected LXE Software's LoanXEngine as a preferred technology solution for CRM and automated loan pricing for lenders participating in the LendingTree network. Case-Study: The Alpha School System And ColdFusion 8

The Alpha School System (TASS) is an Australian browser-based administration and portal application for K-12 schools. It includes modules for enrollment; student, parent, and teacher records; timetables; fundraising information, and financial accounts. It also offers online community portals for students, parents, and teachers, as well as web-based student grading tools. The application was built using ColdFusion 8 and Flash CS3, and uses ColdFusion 8 PDF generation and integration features extensively. A case-study has been posted on Adobe.com.
